Google is prioritizing secure HTTPS URLs over regular HTTP ones
Google has begun prioritizing websites that use secure HTTPS rather than HTTP.
For this reason, the number of sites becoming encrypted has grown and as you might have noticed, the majority of sites on the first page of Google Search Results tend to be encrypted. Apparently there seems to be some evidence that proofs that making this switch is good for SEO.
Since security is also Google's number one priority, websites without encryption on certain forms, may even get penalized.
You might have already seen the green padlock in your web browser’s address bar in the past, telling you that this website is being served securely over the HTTPS protocol. From January 2017 onwards, the Google Chrome browser will denote non-secure HTTP sites with a “not secure” notice.
As a natural result, the green secure padlock will give your website visitors more confidence in your site. Just ask yourself: Would you rather buy from a website that ensures your data is safe and secure?
